INFORMATION IF USING A PAINLESS PERFORMANCE WIRING HARNESS

If you are having a PCM programmed for a 1996 to 1999 Vortec engine, keep in mind that the harness Painless sells for 96-99 Vortec V8 engines (P/N 60212) is only supposed to be used with 1996 and 1997 PCM's.  They list two service number PCM's that this will work with.  Serv. No. #16244210 or 16229684.  These two PCM's are 1996 and 1997, and do not have anti-theft in them.  What they do not mention is if you have a 1998, 1999 or 2000 PCM programmed to remove anti-theft, then use it with a painless harness, you will have a misfire on cylinder #1 and #8. (if V8 engine) This is because in the 1998+ Black Box PCM, the injector pin locations is different.

If you bought a Painless P/N 60212 or 60213 harness for your V8 engine and have a 1998+ PCM, you need to move two pins in the PCM connectors to make this work on your V8 engine.

Injector #1 wire is located on the RED pcm connector pin# 3.  It is a BLACK wire, and this needs MOVED to pin 8 of the SAME connector if you have 98+ PCM.

Injector #8 wire is located on the BLUE PCM connector pin# 5.  It is a BLUE wire with WHITE stripe, and this needs MOVED to pin 9 of the RED PCM connnector if you have 98+ PCM.

If you bought a Painless P/N 60214 or 60215 for your V6 engine and have a 1998+ PCM, follow this information.

Injector #1 wire is located on the RED PCM connector pin# 3.  It is a BLACK wire, and this needs moved to pin 8 of the SAME connector.

Injector #6 wire is the one your moving on a V6, this wire will be Yellow with Black stripe.  This wire needs MOVED from BLUE PCM connector pin# 5 to RED PCM connector pin# 9.
